FG Begins Repair work on Kara Bridge

Commuters travelling outbound from Lagos on the Lagos–Ibadan Expressway are experiencing heavy traffic following the resumption of repair work on the Kara Bridge.

The rehabilitation, which involves replacing damaged expansion joints, restarted on Tuesday morning after work was earlier suspended following the first phase. Traffic has stretched back towards the Otedola Bridge.

The Federal Controller of Works in Ogun State, Layi Komolafe, said the repairs are necessary and called for cooperation from agencies, including the Federal Road Safety Corps, the Lagos State Police Command and the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority, to manage traffic.

The Federal Road Safety Corps says the repairs could take between six weeks and two months to complete, while the Federal Ministry of Works has advised motorists to consider alternative routes to reduce congestion during the construction period.
