The Federal Government has declared Friday, 18th April and Monday, 21st April 2025 as public holidays to mark Good Friday and Easter Monday, in observance of the Christian commemoration of sacrifice and resurrection.
The announcement was made by the Minister of Interior, Dr Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, who conveyed the government’s congratulations to Christians across the country on what he described as a season of reflection and renewal.

He urged Nigerians to embrace the values symbolised by Easter—particularly sacrifice, love, and redemption—as demonstrated by the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
In a statement issued by the ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Dr Magdalene Ajani, the minister also called on citizens to use the holiday period to offer prayers for peace, unity, and continued stability across the nation.
