The Federal Government says over ₦300 billion has been disbursed to 8.1 million households through its Conditional Cash Transfer scheme. The Minister of State for Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, Yusuf Sanunu, announced this in Abuja during a roundtable marking the International Day for Disaster Risk Reduction.
He said the initiative, under President Tinubu’s Hope Agenda, has boosted resilience, health, and education outcomes in local communities. The minister also revealed plans to grant ₦6.3 billion in interest-free loans to 21,000 flood-affected Nigerians to support recovery and agricultural productivity.

Sanunu added that the government is working with the Agriculture Ministry to empower displaced persons through schemes that ensure market access for their produce. The meeting also unveiled new national frameworks to strengthen disaster prevention and response capacity across sectors.
