Members of Nigeria’s Super Eagles have formally received certificates of national honours and title documents for housing and land allocations. The presentation took place at the team hotel in Fez, Morocco, ahead of Nigeria’s opening match in the new Africa Cup of Nations campaign.
President Bola Tinubu had pledged the rewards following the team’s second-place finish at the 2023 AFCON in Côte d’Ivoire. The ceremony was led by the Chairman of the National Sports Commission, Shehu Dikko, alongside officials from the National Assembly, the Nigeria Football Federation, and the Nigerian High Commission.
All players were awarded the Member of the Order of the Niger (MON) except Ahmed Musa and Victor Osimhen, who received Officer of the Order of the Niger (OON) honours, while William Troost-Ekong was awarded the Member of the Federal Republic (MFR) as player of the tournament. Title documents for houses and land allocations have been issued in line with the President’s commitment to reward national service and sporting excellence.
