The Federal Government has launched a nationwide programme to train, certify, and place 100,000 construction artisans in jobs across Nigeria. The initiative will run for three years and is funded through federal budget allocations, private sector investment, and donor contributions.
The scheme, formalised through a Memorandum of Understanding with Polaris Capital Limited, will also feature a digital booking and verification platform to connect artisans to work opportunities and generate revenue for long-term sustainability.

At the signing ceremony in Abuja, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development, Dr Shuaib Belgore, said the initiative aims to modernise the construction workforce, strengthen technical capacity, and create sustainable jobs for young people, women, and persons with disabilities.
Trades covered include bricklaying, plumbing, electrical installations, carpentry, painting, welding, tiling, and refrigeration. Officials said the programme will roll out in phases, beginning with a pilot before nationwide expansion.
