The Federal Government has launched a state-by-state housing campaign in collaboration with state governments, private developers, and development partners, aimed at making homeownership more accessible and addressing gaps in housing policy execution across Nigeria. The announcement was made by the Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Ahmed Dangiwa, during the 19th Africa International Housing Show in Abuja.

Dangiwa said the initiative is part of the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Tinubu and includes embedding Housing Reform Champions in states, organising housing roundtables, and unlocking financing through structured support. He added that over ₦70 billion in private capital has so far been mobilised through public-private partnerships to drive large-scale housing projects.

The Minister stressed that affordability remains the biggest hurdle to homeownership in Africa and outlined the government’s three-tier housing blueprint to include Renewed Hope Cities, Estates, and Social Housing Estates. He also highlighted Federal Mortgage Bank schemes like Rent-to-Own and Rental Assistance as measures to support young families and urban workers.

He reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to urban renewal and slum upgrades in line with global goals, and called on development partners and the private sector to help turn policy into results.
