The Federal Government has commended the Super Eagles for their performance at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, despite their semi-final defeat to Morocco. The Atlas Lions edged Nigeria 4–2 on penalties on Wednesday after a goalless match to reach the final of the tournament.
The commendation was conveyed in a statement on Thursday by the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris. He said the team displayed character, teamwork and resilience throughout the competition, adding that their efforts earned them the respect and gratitude of Nigerians at home and abroad.
Mr Idris said the players reminded Nigerians that representing the country is about courage, unity and perseverance. He urged the team to learn from the experience, remain united and return stronger, noting that the nation remains proud of their showing at the tournament.

Meanwhile, the Chairman of BUA Group, Abdul Samad Rabiu, has confirmed he will still donate 500,000 dollars to the Super Eagles despite their loss to Morocco. The Super Eagles are scheduled to play Egypt in the third-place match on Saturday.
