The Federal Government has restated that tuition and approved charges in all Federal Technical Colleges remain free of cost. The Minister of Education, Tunji Alausa, said no principal or administrator is permitted to impose extra levies on parents or guardians.
He explained that the government fully funds tuition alongside approved items such as boarding, uniforms, textbooks, exercise books, ID cards, stationery, clubs and societies, medicals, vocational training, utilities, security, and insurance. However, boarders are expected to provide personal items including bedding, toiletries, and cutlery.

Alausa said the initiative reflects President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which prioritises technical and vocational education as a key driver of human capital development. He added that the policy is aimed at ensuring no child is denied access to technical education because of illegal charges.
The Ministry of Education urged parents to report infractions through dedicated hotlines and email, and assured that monitoring mechanisms are in place to safeguard the integrity of the free education policy.
