FG to Commence 30 Percent Implementation of 2025 Capital Budget February Ending

The Federal Government has announced it will begin implementing 30 percent of the 2025 Capital Budget by the end of February. This marks the first step in executing the extended capital budget following delays in revenue inflows and budget approval.

The Accountant-General of the Federation, Dr. Shamseldeen Babatunde Ogunjimi, made the announcement during a stakeholders’ meeting on budget rollout. He explained that the Government Integrated Financial Management Information System has been restored and is now operational to support the implementation.

Warrants have already been issued to Ministries, Departments and Agencies for project work to begin. The move aims to kick-start capital projects as the government seeks to improve infrastructure and economic activities.

Work on the remaining 70 percent of the budget will be rolled into the 2026 Capital Budget to ensure seamless execution.
