FG Unveils Digital Portal to Report Housing Fraud

The Federal Government has launched a digital portal for citizens to report fraudulent activities in housing estates. The Ministry of Housing and Urban Development announced the initiative in Abuja, saying the system will allow users to file complaints, upload evidence, and track the progress of their cases.

The Housing Fraud Reporting Portal, available at https://reports.fmhud.gov.ng, was developed by consultants Freestone Investments Limited and Prunedge Development Technologies Limited. The Ministry said reports would be reviewed in collaboration with professional bodies, law enforcement agencies, and the judiciary.

Alongside the fraud portal, the Ministry also unveiled the Contract Performance and Compliance Project Monitoring System. The platform enables real-time tracking of housing projects, evaluates contractor performance, and stores key project documents and payment records.

Housing Minister Ahmed Dangiwa said both systems were created to promote transparency and align with the 2012 National Housing Policy. He added that the fraud portal was developed with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission to ensure effective follow-up of reported cases.
