The Federal Government has unveiled an N8.5 billion land swap project at Federal Government College, Kano, to improve infrastructure and enhance teaching and learning. The Minister of State for Education, Professor Suwaiba Said Ahmad, inaugurated the project, describing it as a strategic step to strengthen academic delivery.
The project includes the construction of eighteen new structures and the renovation of fifteen existing facilities. These cover student hostels, an ICT centre, an indoor sports complex, a skills acquisition centre, a clinic, staff quarters and a corps members’ lounge, all aimed at transforming the school into a National Centre of Excellence.
The minister explained that the initiative is being executed through a Public-Private Partnership arrangement. Under the agreement, an investor will provide education and health infrastructure in exchange for ten hectares of land, a model adopted to address funding gaps in unity schools.
