Filmmaker Kunle Afolayan’s production company has signed a memorandum of understanding with the Republic of Benin to strengthen collaboration in film production, youth training and creative infrastructure development across West Africa.
The cross-border partnership is designed to boost African storytelling and position Benin as a growing centre for audio-visual production on the continent. Representatives from the Beninese government formalised the agreement in Lagos after earlier consultations held in Cotonou.
The collaboration will centre on co-producing films that expand global reach, structured training for young film professionals and the development and operation of a film city in Ouidah, Benin. Officials from both sides say the joint efforts aim to develop sustainable creative enterprises and technical skills in the region.
