Nigerian filmmaker Prince Daniel Aboki has denied reports suggesting he was rejected in Kannywood due to his religion and in Nollywood because of his northern background.
In a statement, the *Mai Martaba* director clarified that he had never made such claims in any interview, attributing the misunderstanding to remarks he made at a *Nollywood in Hollywood* event in Los Angeles.

Aboki explained that his comments were intended to highlight the structural divide within Nigeria’s film industry and the complexities of working across both Kannywood and Nollywood.
He noted that while his film was sometimes perceived as Nollywood by Kannywood and as Kannywood by Nollywood, this was a matter of categorisation rather than religious or ethnic bias.
