Finance Minister Says 2024 Budget 80% Implemented

Finance Minister Wale Edun has disclosed that about 80 per cent of Nigeria’s 2024 budget had been executed by September 2025. He gave the update after a closed-door session with the House of Representatives Committee on Appropriations, which also engaged Budget Minister Atiku Bagudu on the status of the Appropriation Act.

Committee Chairman Abubakar Bichi said Nigerians were closely monitoring budget performance and stressed the legislature’s duty to ensure transparency. He added that ministers had pledged to deliver visible results before the end of the year, with lawmakers maintaining oversight.

Edun explained that the extension of the 2024 budget until December allowed ongoing projects to continue, including grassroots schemes, roadworks, and irrigation. He clarified that no supplementary budget had been tabled, while Bagudu noted that lawmakers commended the government’s reform agenda and respect for parliamentary processes.
