An early-morning fire has destroyed goods worth millions of naira at the Alaba Rago market in the Ojo area of Lagos State. According to a statement by the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), the fire broke out at midnight on Wednesday.
LASEMA Permanent Secretary, Dr. Femi Oke-Osayintolu, said the agency received distress calls and activated its emergency response plans. The LASEMA Emergency Response Team from Igando and the Dolphin Response Team discovered that several shanty shops were engulfed in flames upon arrival.

The Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, alongside LASEMA and other responders, worked together to contain the fire and prevent it from spreading to nearby properties. The Director of Lagos Fire Service, Margaret Adeseye, confirmed that the situation is now under control.
The cause of the fire is yet to be determined, but investigations are ongoing to uncover the root cause of the incident.
