The Director of the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, Margaret Adeseye, has confirmed that several shops were affected as fire ravaged a seven-storey building on Sanni Adewale Street in Lagos Island Local Government Area, early Friday morning.
In her statement confirming the incident, Adeseye, said firefighters from the Ebute Elefun, Sari, and Lekki 1 stations were dispatched immediately after receiving a distress call and arrived at the scene by 5:33 a.m.
Despite the timely arrival of emergency responders, the inferno had already destroyed items valued at millions of naira before it was brought under control.

According to the Fire and Rescue Service Director, preliminary investigations suggest the fire was triggered by an electrical surge. Fortunately, no casualties have been reported.
