A section of the Alaba International Market in Lagos was gutted by fire on Tuesday evening.
The blaze, which broke out near the Ojo Local Government Secretariat, destroyed several plazas within the market complex before it was brought under control. Videos circulating online showed thick smoke and flames billowing from the affected buildings.
Officials of the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service were seen at the scene working to contain the fire. The cause of the incident is yet to be determined, and there were no immediate reports of casualties.

The Alaba International Market, located along the Lagos–Badagry Expressway, is one of West Africa’s largest commercial hubs. Tuesday’s fire adds to a growing number of similar incidents across Lagos in recent months, including the September blaze at Afriland Towers on Lagos Island which killed at least ten people.
