Nigeria’s tax authority says its partnership with the IMF’s AFRITAC West 2 is producing clear results in revenue administration and economic reform.
Speaking after a regional meeting and field visit in Abuja, FIRS Special Adviser Collins Omokaro said the collaboration has strengthened tax compliance and modernised collection systems.
Key achievements include the use of behavioural insights to promote tax as a civic duty, VAT gap analysis to inform policy, and specialised audit training targeting high-risk sectors like finance—with telecoms next.
