First Lady launches initiative to boost birth registration in Nigeria

The First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, through her Renewed Hope Initiative, RHI, on Thursday, in partnership with the National Population Commission, NPC, and the United Nations Children’s Fund, UNICEF, launched the UNICEF/RHI Commemorative Birth Certificate for 2024.

The RHI says it has committed to supporting the current administration’s efforts to accelerate universal free birth registration and certification, especially for newborns, using the national digital civil registration and vital statistics (eCRVS) in all health facilities and communities.

Speaking at the launching ceremony which was held at Old Banquet Hall in the Presidential Villa, Abuja, Senator Tinubu stressed the critical importance of birth registration for Nigerian children.
