Five Die as Storm Collapses Buildings in Gaza

At least five Palestinians have been killed in Gaza after buildings damaged during Israeli military operations collapsed amid a severe winter storm, according to the Palestinian news agency Wafa.

Civil defence officials and hospital sources said the storm, which brought heavy rain, strong winds and low temperatures, also led to several deaths linked to extreme cold, including children and elderly people sheltering in tents and damaged structures across the territory.

Palestinian Civil Defence said at least three people were killed when a building collapsed in Gaza City, while another person died in a separate collapse, as hospitals reported a surge in patients with cold-related illnesses. Aid agencies warned that thousands of displaced families lack adequate shelter.

UNICEF said several children have died from hypothermia in recent days, while Gaza officials and humanitarian groups said restrictions on the entry of aid and shelter materials continue to hamper relief efforts. Forecasters say cold conditions are expected to persist, raising further concerns for civilians.
