Five people have been confirmed dead and two others injured in a road accident that occurred on Thursday morning near the Ilu-Abo community in Akure North, Ondo State.
The crash, which happened around 9 a.m., involved a DAF tipper truck and a Nissan Sunny car. The victims, including a child, were traders travelling to Ogbese market when the collision occurred.

Ondo FRSC Sector Commander, Samuel Ibitoye, said seven people were involved in the crash, attributing the cause to excessive speed. The bodies of the deceased have been taken to the Federal Medical Centre in Owo, while the injured are receiving treatment.
Mr Ibitoye expressed concern over the rising number of preventable accidents in the state and urged motorists to embrace safe driving habits, particularly during the busy ember months.
