Five Policemen Killed In Zamfara Bandit Ambush

Five policemen have been killed and one declared missing after armed bandits ambushed a police patrol team in Tsafe Local Government Area of Zamfara State. The attack occurred along the Tsafe–Funtua highway on Thursday while officers were on a routine patrol.

Police spokesperson DSP Yazid Abubakar confirmed the incident, saying security reinforcements had been deployed and a search-and-rescue operation was underway to find the missing officer and pursue the attackers. The remains of the slain officers have been taken to the Yariman Bakura Specialist Hospital in Gusau.

Governor Dauda Lawal has condemned the attack and expressed grief over the killing of the security personnel. In a statement on his verified Facebook page, he said eight security operatives, including five policemen, were killed in the ambush along the Funtua–Gusau road.

The governor extended condolences to the families of the victims and prayed for their repose. He also called for sustained efforts to end insecurity in Zamfara State and across northern Nigeria.
