Nigeria’s Flamingos have crashed out of the 2025 FIFA Under-17 Women’s World Cup after a heavy 4–0 defeat to Italy in the Round of 16. The Italians scored three times in the second half to seal their spot in the quarter-finals.
The Flamingos, who qualified as one of the best third-placed teams, struggled to contain the Italian attack despite a bright start. Anna Copelli opened the scoring before Caterina Venturelli, Giulia Robino, and Rachele Giudici added three more goals to complete the rout.

Nigeria had earlier beaten Samoa 4–0 to secure qualification, after losing to France and Canada in the group stage. The team’s elimination ends hopes of improving on their 2022 third-place finish, the best in their history.
In other matches, North Korea thrashed hosts Morocco 6–1, Brazil defeated China 3–0, and the Netherlands edged the United States 7–6 on penalties to advance to the quarter-finals.
