Riders from the United Kingdom, Argentina and South Africa are set to compete at the 2026 Lagos International Polo Tournament, which begins on January 27 and is sponsored by Guaranty Trust Holding Company, GTCo.
The President of the Lagos Polo Club, Adeyemo Alakija, said the participation of international players reflects efforts to attract top talent to Nigeria, adding that the tournament aims to uphold the country’s polo tradition of more than 150 years and showcase its cultural values until it ends on February 15.

The tournament manager, Usman Dantata Junior, said the Majekodunmi Cup is the premier prize, alongside other major trophies including the Chapel Hill Denham Open Cup, Lagos Low Cup and Lagos Silver Cup, with matches scheduled across the opening and closing weeks at the upgraded Lagos Polo Club facility.
