Forgery Claims by National Secretary “Baseless and Misleading,” Says PDP Board

Court Warns PDP, INEC Against Defying Status Quo on Party Convention

The Board of Trustees of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has dismissed allegations of forgery raised by its National Secretary, Senator Samuel Anyanwu. In three letters dated 15 October, Senator Anyanwu claimed his signature was cloned on documents sent to INEC about the party’s forthcoming convention. He urged security agencies to investigate.

In a statement, BoT Chairman Adolphus Wabara described the claims as baseless and misleading, insisting that Senator Anyanwu co-signed the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, letter alongside Acting National Chairman Umar Damagum during a NEC meeting in August. Wabara said the signing was witnessed by key party leaders and supported by other official correspondences.
