Justice Emeka Nwite of the Federal High Court in Abuja has granted bail to former Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, his son Abdulaziz Malami, and an employee of Rahamaniyya Properties Limited, Hajia Asabe Bashir. Bail was set at ₦500 million with two sureties who must own landed property in Asokoro, Maitama, or Gwarinpa and submit their travel documents to the court.
The court ordered the sureties’ property documents to be verified by the deputy chief registrar and required them to depose to an affidavit of means. Malami and the sureties were also instructed to submit two recent passport photographs, while the former AGF must deposit his travel documents and obtain court permission before leaving the country.

Malami remains remanded in Kuje prison pending the perfection of bail conditions. Justice Nwite fixed February 17, 2026, for the commencement of the trial over 16-count alleged money laundering charges filed by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.
