Former Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, says his convoy was attacked by suspected thugs in Kebbi State on Monday. Around 10 vehicles were reportedly damaged, and several of his supporters sustained injuries. Malami, now a leader of the African Democratic Congress in the state, alleged that the attackers emerged from the All Progressives Congress headquarters in Birnin Kebbi.
He insisted he was in the state to pay condolence visits and not for political campaigning, describing the incident as a politically motivated act. Malami vowed that his party would not back down in the state’s political contest.

The All Progressives Congress has denied any involvement. Its Kebbi State Publicity Secretary, Isa Assalafy, condemned the attack and said the APC had no reason to disrupt the peace, given its popular support.
Assalafy also accused security personnel attached to Malami’s convoy of firing shots during the confrontation, which he said worsened the situation.
