Plateau Wedding Attack Death Toll Rises to 13 as Northern Governors Forum Condemns Attack

At least four people, including a soldier and three suspected bandits, have been killed in a coordinated attack on Sabon Gari and Zurak communities in Wase Local Government Area of Plateau State. Two soldiers have been declared missing following the incident, according to military sources.

The sources said troops of Operation Enduring Peace were placed on red alert after intelligence reports indicated that armed bandits had mobilised about 200 motorcycles to launch an attack on Kampani community. The attackers instead moved towards Sabon Gari, firing sporadically, before regrouping and launching a second assault on Zurak, where troops later engaged them with superior firepower.

A corporal was killed in action, while his rifle and a rocket-propelled grenade tube were reportedly taken by the fleeing attackers. Search and rescue operations are ongoing to locate the two missing soldiers, as security forces prepare further operations against suspected bandit hideouts in the area.
