Fragile Gaza Truce Strains as Israeli Fire Kills Three Palestinians

Three Palestinians were killed on Monday in two separate Israeli strikes near the line separating areas of Israeli control in Gaza, underscoring the fragility of a ceasefire agreed more than six weeks ago.

Palestinian medics reported a drone attack east of Khan Younis that killed two people and injured another, while a tank shell struck the outskirts of Gaza City. Israel’s military said its forces fired at “terrorists” who crossed a restricted zone and posed an immediate threat.

The truce, signed on 9 October by Israel and Hamas, halted two years of intense fighting but left key disputes unresolved. Since then, both sides have traded accusations of violations.

The UN Security Council has endorsed a U.S.-backed peace plan, though negotiations over an international security force and Gaza’s political future remain fraught.
