France has pledged to provide 100 million euros, approximately $108 million, to support Lebanon amid a humanitarian crisis resulting from Israeli attacks that have displaced over a million people. President Emmanuel Macron emphasized the need for “massive aid” during an international conference held on Thursday.
At the conference in Paris, Macron condemned Israel for its ongoing military offensive in Lebanon and reiterated his call for a ceasefire. He hosted ministers and officials from more than 70 countries and international organizations, including the European Union and regional partners, to gather support for the cash-strapped Lebanese government.
The conference aimed to raise donations to address Lebanon’s urgent needs, with French organizers hoping to meet the $400 million that the United Nations has identified as necessary for immediate assistance.
