Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara says the 2026 Appropriation Bill will be presented in the newly rebuilt State House of Assembly Complex, now undergoing accelerated reconstruction. The governor gave the assurance after inspecting the site on Monday, expressing satisfaction with the pace of work.
He confirmed that MCC, the main contractor, has engaged Julius Berger to handle the interior, ensuring the complex—damaged and later demolished after last year’s political crisis—will be ready by December. Fubara said the aim is to return lawmakers to their permanent chambers, replacing the temporary sitting arrangement at their residential quarters.

He noted that the state government will complete the major reconstruction, while the remaining section will be handled by the Speaker. Governor Fubara insists the 2026 budget will be presented “in a dignified manner” in the main chambers.
