Former Lagos gubernatorial candidate Funso Doherty has criticised the state government over the severe hardship caused by the closure of the Independence Bridge at Bonny Camp, describing the disruption as a failure of planning and governance.
In an open letter to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Mr Doherty condemned what he called the “excruciating” traffic congestion resulting from the repair works, arguing that such difficulties could have been avoided with more effective planning.

He accused the authorities of neglecting the welfare of commuters in infrastructure projects, saying Lagosians have endured years of poorly coordinated roadworks that disrupt daily life, weaken productivity, and diminish overall well-being.
