President Bola Tinubu has appointed Umar Abdullahi Umar, the son of ex-Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC, as Executive Director, Technical Services of the Rural Electrification Agency, REA.
This follows the indefinite suspension of REA Managing Director, Ahmad Salihijo, who was appointed by former President Muhammadu Buhari in 2019. Also suspended are three directors who worked with him.

The directors are Olaniyi Alaba Netufo, Executive Director of Corporate Services; Barka Sajou, Executive Director of Technical Services; and Sa’adatu Balgore, the Executive Director, Rural Electrification Fund REF.
President Tinubu appointed three others alongside the APC Chairman’s son. The other two new directors are: Ayoade Gboyega as the Executive Director, Corporate Services; and Doris Uboh steps in as Executive Director, Rural Electrification Fund, REF.
