At least 15 people suffered burns following a gas explosion at a residential-commercial building on Amosu Street, Ijora Badia, in Lagos on Sunday evening.
The blast, which occurred around 5pm, was traced to a leaking 25-kilogram gas cylinder inside a small shop. The premises, a bungalow comprising 15 single-room residences and seven shops, was quickly engulfed.

Initial findings suggest the gas leak was due to improper handling, with ignition believed to have come from an open flame nearby.
Margaret Adeseye, Director of the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, confirmed the incident, noting there were no fatalities.
Emergency teams extinguished the fire within an hour, safely removing remaining cylinders to prevent further danger. Authorities have since launched a formal investigation into the cause.
