Gaza Hospitals Warn of Imminent Collapse Amid Fuel Crisis

Doctors in Gaza say a worsening fuel crisis is pushing the health system to breaking point, with hospitals forced to cram multiple newborns into single incubators as vital services begin to shut down.

Medical staff report power outages are threatening care for hundreds of patients, including premature babies and those in need of dialysis. At Al-Shifa Hospital, officials warn it could go offline within hours without fuel, placing dozens of lives at immediate risk.

The UN says there are virtually no accessible fuel stocks left in Gaza, and warned that the humanitarian impact could worsen rapidly unless Israel permits urgent fuel deliveries.

The enclave’s health infrastructure, already devastated by an earlier 11-week blockade, is now crippled by both fuel shortages and a lack of generator parts.

Doctors say treating patients by flashlight has become routine in many Gaza hospitals.
