NEWS EXTRA - by RadioNow / Mar. 16th, 2021

The “Go Create” app is a tool recently launched by the musical copyright society of Nigeria (MCSN), with the aim of solving the problem of royalty payment in Nigeria.

Created to monitor, track & report the use of musical works and sound recordings on all platforms in Nigeria, as well monitoring offline use of music, “Go Create” hopes to ensure that artists are paid for the use of their intellectual property wherever that may be.

On this episode of News Extra, we speak to the CEO of the (MCSN) Mayowa Ayilaran who explains the purpose of the app. We are also joined by entertainment lawyer Akinyemi Ayinoluwa who analyzes the current state of copyright in Nigeria, and ask producer Sizzle Pro how he thinks the app will help creatives.

This episode of News Extra originally aired on the 11th of March, 2021.
