Kogi State Governor, Usman Ododo, has said he runs what he described as a “working cabal” within his administration. He made the remarks while speaking at a project inauguration event in the state.
Mr Ododo said effective governance depends on close-knit groups that function efficiently, adding that he was previously part of a similar group under his predecessor, Yahaya Bello, which he said delivered limited results. He said the current group in his administration has performed better.
The governor said he is proud of the cabal in his government and identified the state’s Accountant-General, Habibat Tijani Aliyu, as its leader, noting that her appointment was approved by former governor Yahaya Bello. He also listed the Auditor-General, the party chairman, the Special Adviser on Protocol, and the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs as members.

Mr Ododo said claims that he operates a cabal should not be viewed negatively, insisting that the group has contributed to projects being commissioned.
