Anambra State Governor, Professor Chukwuma Soludo, has named the road leading to the Chinua Achebe International Airport, Umueri, after his predecessor, Chief Willie Obiano. The announcement was made during the commissioning of the road on Monday.
Governor Soludo said the newly named Willie Obiano Boulevard was in recognition of the former governor’s contributions, particularly his initiation of the airport project and the construction of the International Convention Centre in Awka.

He likened the naming of the road to the Bill Clinton Drive in Abuja, calling it a fitting tribute to a man who dared to dream and deliver. The governor also highlighted his administration’s inclusive approach to development across all regions of the state.
The commissioning ceremony drew a large crowd, including members of the State Executive Council, traditional rulers, lawmakers, community leaders, and political figures from across Anambra.
