President Bola Tinubu has ordered integrity tests be carried out on all dams in the country to prevent future disasters. This comes after the structural integrity of the Alau Dam failed, leading to severe flooding in Maiduguri, the Borno State capital.
The flood displaced over one million people who had to seek shelter in different Internally Displaced Persons camps.

President Tinubu, during his 64th Independence anniversary address, said his administration, which has been responding to natural disasters, particularly the aforementioned flood, will always stand with the people in their times of trouble.
