The Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, has dismissed rumours that he is planning to defect from the Labour Party to the ruling All Progressives Congress.
Speaking in an interview monitored by RadioNow’s news desk, Governor Otti laughed off the speculation, saying he doesn’t need to join the APC to be close to the seat of power.

When asked whether he might leave the Labour Party in the future, Otti said he couldn’t predict what lies ahead, adding that he can’t guarantee the party’s existence tomorrow.
Otti’s comments come in the wake of a wave of defections in Delta State, where former Governor Ifeanyi Okowa and current Governor Sheriff Oborevwori left the PDP to join the APC, claiming they wanted to connect Delta to Aso Rock.
