Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed has led tributes following the death of prominent Islamic scholar Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi, who passed away on Thursday at the age of 102. In a statement issued by his media aide, the governor conveyed condolences to the cleric’s family, students, followers and the wider Muslim community across Nigeria and beyond.
He described the late Sheikh as a towering figure of Islamic scholarship whose life was devoted to teaching the Qur’an, promoting moral discipline and nurturing thousands of students across Africa through his many learning centres. The governor noted that his influence extended beyond theology, serving as a unifying voice for peace and tolerance.

Mohammed said the state would continue to honour the cleric’s legacy and prayed for Allah’s mercy on his soul.
