Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has urged members of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, to remain steadfast despite recent defections by some governors and senior figures. He said the party would overcome its current challenges and emerge stronger ahead of future elections.
Speaking in Abuja during the inauguration of the PDP National Convention Transportation Sub-committee, which he chairs, Governor Makinde said the party’s present difficulties were part of a renewal process. He noted that the PDP had remained a central force in Nigeria’s politics since 1999.

He called for unity and renewed commitment among members nationwide, assuring that the PDP still has structures in every ward across the country. Makinde expressed confidence that the party would rebuild, reposition, and reclaim its leadership role in Nigeria’s democratic landscape.
