Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State has warned the opposition All Progressives Congress (APC) against disrupting democratic processes during the swearing-in of 30 newly elected local government chairmen. Speaking in Osogbo, Makinde cautioned against the use of “federal might” to interfere with governance.
His remarks come amid controversy surrounding the elections, in which the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) claimed victory in all chairmanship positions. The APC has rejected the results, citing earlier warnings from police authorities and the Attorney-General of the Federation against holding the elections due to security and legal concerns.

Despite these warnings, Governor Ademola Adeleke proceeded with the elections and described the swearing-in ceremony as a major milestone for democracy in Osun State. He maintained that the polls followed due process and urged the newly elected chairmen to prioritise good governance while warning against any attempts to seize council secretariats by force.
