Governor Mbah Defects to APC, Says PDP Ignored Enugu’s Voice

Enugu State Governor Peter Mbah has defected from the Peoples Democratic Party to the All Progressives Congress, citing the PDP’s failure to heed the aspirations of his people. In a broadcast on Tuesday, Mbah said his decision reflected the collective resolve of state and federal lawmakers, cabinet members, and most PDP executives in the state. His predecessor, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, also joined the defection.

Governor Mbah expressed gratitude to the PDP for nearly three decades of partnership but said leadership demanded “bold choices.” He described his move as a quest for a platform where Enugu’s voice would be respected. The governor praised President Bola Tinubu’s “transformative vision,” saying he shared it.

Vice President Kashim Shettima and Senate President Godswill Akpabio are expected to formally welcome him into the APC.
