The Governor of Plateau State, Caleb Mutfwang, has ruled out a mass burial for the victims of the recent attack in the Angwan Rukuba community. The governor issued the directive during an on-the-spot assessment of the area on Monday, following the violent incident that claimed several lives. He stated that such a burial would be inconsistent with the dignity of the deceased and the respect their families deserve.
Governor Mutfwang ordered that each victim must be given an individual and dignified burial. He further instructed security agencies to conduct a thorough investigation into the attack to ensure that those responsible are brought to justice. The governor emphasised that the government will not allow the incident to be politicised and is committed to protecting the lives and property of citizens in the state.
The attack on Angwan Rukuba, located in the Bassa local government area, has heightened tensions in the region. Governor Mutfwang’s decision comes after consultations with community leaders and security officials. He also directed that the medical bills of those injured in the attack be covered by the state government.
