The Kogi State Government, on Wednesday, suspended all mining activities in the state due to an influx of bandits and criminal elements in mining-related activities.
Speaking to the press after the State Executive Council meeting presided over by the Governor, Usman Ododo, the state Commissioner for Solid Minerals and Natural Resources, Bashiru Gegu, said the decision to suspend mining activities was reached at the meeting.

He also said the state Ministry of Solid Minerals and Natural Resources will begin profiling legal mining companies in the state.
