Alex Otti, Governor of Abia State, has visited jailed Nnamdi Kanu in prison and pledged to “activate plans” to secure his release from detention.
The visit comes days after a federal court sentenced the leader of the proscribed group IPOB to life imprisonment for terrorism.
Governor Otti urged Mr Kanu to remain calm and said ongoing engagements to secure his freedom remain active and will be pursued “administratively,”

He expressed optimism that Kanu will regain his freedom in due course and also noted that religious and community leaders, including the Sultan of Sokoto, support the call for Kanu’s release — framing it as a step toward de-escalation and national reconciliation.
