Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, joined Captains of Industry, family, friends and associates to pay tribute to Herbert Wigwe, the Group Managing Director and CEO of Access Bank Plc, who died alongside his wife and son on February 9th in a helicopter accident in the United States of America.
Speaking at the tribute which was held at Eko Hotel in Lagos last night, Governor Sanwo-Olu said the late Mr. Wigwe embodied the true spirit of Lagos State, and the nation’s commercial nerve centre won’t forget him.

Some of the dignitaries who graced the event include the Chairman of Dangote Group Aliko Dangote; Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Yemi Cardoso; the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy Wale Edun; the President of the African Development Bank Group Akinwumi Adesina; Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos; and Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State.
In a bid to immortalise him, billionaire businessman, Aliko Dangote, announced the naming of a major road in his refinery complex after the Late Herbert Wigwe.
