The Nigeria Governors’ Forum has expressed full support for the bill seeking to reserve special seats for women in the National and State Assemblies. The forum said the proposed law will enhance women’s participation in governance and ensure more inclusive representation.
In a statement issued after its meeting early Friday, the governors urged their members to lobby lawmakers at both federal and state levels to ensure the bill’s passage. The proposed amendment to the 1999 Constitution seeks to create special constituencies exclusively contested by women.
