Grammys to Proceed as Planned Despite LA Wildfires, Organizers Confirm

The Recording Academy has confirmed that the 67th annual Grammy Awards will proceed as planned on February 2, despite the ongoing devastation caused by wildfires in Los Angeles. In a letter to Academy members, organizers assured that the event would take place at the Crypto.com Arena in downtown LA, with full coordination from local authorities to ensure public safety and efficient use of resources.

The awards show, which will be broadcast live on CBS, continues to go ahead with top nominees including Beyoncé, Taylor Swift, Billie Eilish, and Kendrick Lamar. Meanwhile, the fires, which have left at least 24 dead and displaced tens of thousands, continue to wreak havoc across Southern California. In response, the Recording Academy and its philanthropic arm, MusiCares, have launched a relief initiative, with an initial $1 million donation to assist affected music industry workers. Additional donations have increased the total emergency aid distribution to over $2 million.

In solidarity with those impacted, major industry players such as LiveNation and AEG Presents, alongside the Azoff Company, will host a FIREAID benefit concert on January 30 at the Intuit Dome in Inglewood. Proceeds from the concert will support a non-profit dedicated to rebuilding infrastructure, aiding displaced families, and advancing fire prevention strategies in the region.

As the entertainment industry navigates this challenging period, the Academy Awards has already adapted its schedule, canceling its lavish nominees’ luncheon and moving its nominations announcement online due to the fires.
